Masumi Saito is a Japanese movement artist and choreographer based in London. She has developed a personal understanding of physical expression and discovered possibilities for adopting her movement work into non-traditional dance platforms. In recent years she has worked closely within film and moving image. Collaboration and designing performance space with logic and emotion are central to her practice.
Masumi is a choreographer as well as a performer for the company. She brings unique movement into the company’s work and accommodates Theo’s concept using her vibrant body language.
Previously she has performed at HOME Manchester, Tate Britain, Tate Modern, ICA, RCA, Jerwood Space, Hayward Gallery, Kanazawa 21st Century Museum, Edinburgh Fringe, Aldeburgh Festival and Nakanojo Biennale. Masumi’s recent film projects have been shown internationally at 53ARTMUSEUM (China), International Video Dance Festival of Burgundy (France), Agite y Sirva Video Dance Festival (Mexico), International Screendance Festival at the American Dance Festival, SEDA (Argentina), Numéridanse.TV (France), Now&After13′ International Video Art Festival (Russia).
